Donation, Anyone?

So, you have heard about the flood which hit Johor recently? And you know Chinese New Year is just around the corner but you haven't shop for any new dress yet.

Some of the dresses for auction.

Now you can shop for some specially designed dresses and jewellery while helping the flood victims. YC, a fashion designer of Blackjettas and Drama Mama, is auctioning some items and is donating 90% of the price to the flood victims. The auction runs from now till 1st of February, 2007.

Just curious. Won't it be better if people really want to donate, just donate directly to the victims instead of doing all these autioning and bidding which take more time and energy? Do people have to get something in return for donating for a good cause?

justcurious: It's all about psychology here. Human is a "greedy" animal actually. We always want something in return. That's why, auctioning and bidding items is just another way to increase the amount of donation.
