Say The Wrong Thing?

Last few days, as my mama and I were about to leave home, a neighbour of ours handed a bunch of longan to us. The longan was planted by him.

Fresh from the trees.

My mama thanked him for that. However, being the always friendly lady, my mama was trying to chat a bit with the neighbour. As there's a bat died somewhere near our house's fence and there were longan skin surrounding the dead bat, my mama told the neighbour that.

"There's a dead bat near our house's fence and there were longan skin surrounding the dead bat. I think the bat died after eating YOUR longan."

Ready to be eaten...

I saw the neighbour's face changed instantly. He must be thinking, "Wah! I give you longan, you still say my longan are poisonous which can cause death".

I know my mama didn't mean that. She was just trying to tell the neighbour that she was wondering where the dead bat ate all the longan.

My mum still didn't realise her mistake until I told her so.

So juicy, so sweet.

What I am trying to say is, sometimes, we speak without thinking twice. We might offend or be offended in our daily conversation.

The questions are:
1) When you accidentally offend someone in a conversation and are being told that you're saying the wrong thing, will you apologise?
2) When you are offended by someone in a coversation, will you forgive?

Anyway, my mama did realise her mistake after I told her that. As for the neighbour, I think he did forgive my mama as he continued a short chat with my mama after that and not just ignored and left.

P/s: The longan were sweet and juicy! Yummmm! Thanks so much, uncle!
P/s/s: If I offended anyone in any sense, I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to everyone. :)

Sounds Delicious?

As usual, both Chris and I would visit the Subiaco Market to stock up our groceries on almost every Saturday when I was in Perth.

Kok: Eh, what else wanna buy ah?

Chris: Don't know leh. Later I'll take a carton of eggs and a bag of garlic and onion each.

Kok: Oh... I go around again to see if we missed out something, ok?

Chris: Ok. I'll queue up to pay for the stuff.

I went around the market. Suddenly, I realised I haven't bought any cucumbers for making sandwiches.

Photo taken from Here.

Kok: Chris, did you buy any choo choom bers?

Chris: What? Choo choom bers? I thought we still have it in our fridge?

Kok: Huh? Really? But today choo choom bers are quite cheap leh.

Quickly, an old lady who was queuing behind us, interrupted.

Lady: *Giggle* What's that choo choom bers? Sounds delicious!

Kok & Chris: Oh! It's cucumbers!

Lady: *Laugh* I didn't know choo choom bers can sound that delicious.

All three of us laughed out loud!

So, does choo choom ber sound delicious to you? ;)

P/s: My uncle used to tell her daughter that cucumber was pronounced as "choo choom ber". Thus, I always make fun of the word, cucumber.

Kedai Makan Rasa Segar

"Ma, let's go to eat Nasi Lemak tomorrow!"

I kept on telling my mama about this for the past few days before both of us decided to go for a nasi lemak's lunch on yesterday afternoon.

Kedai Makan Rasa Segar's nasi lemak special.

Previously, I have tried the nasi lemak from Bakery Cafe and Nagaliar. This time round, I suggested to try the nasi lemak from Kedai Makan Rasa Segar. This stall is situated opposite a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) in the city.

Upon reaching there, a friendly worker quickly showed us an empty table. Normally in Miri, you'll have to find a seat yourself. So, two thumbs up for their customer service.

Nasi Lemak Ayam.

I ordered myself a serve of Nasi Lemak Ayam. It came with a huge piece of fried chicken, few pieces of cucumber, a half hard boiled egg and generous amount of peanuts and sambal.

Being the most important in nasi lemak, the rice was well cooked with a fragrant smell. Texture wise, both my mum and I agreed that it was way better than the rice in Nagaliar.

As for the sambal, although it came in a rather big portion, I would like it to be a bit more spicy. Also, more ikan bilis (anchovies) should be added since the side dish did not include any of it.

Not to forget, the fried chicken was crispy but a tad dry. Maybe it was the breast meat that was given. I should have asked for the drumstick instead.

Nasi Lemak Rendang Daging.

On the other hand, my mama opted for this Nasi Lemak Rendang Daging. The rendang was served in a generous amount. No doubt, it tasted good despite a bit cold.

Overall, I would rate Kedai Makan Rasa Segar's nasi lemak as one of the best nasi lemak in town. Nevertheless, it still has room for improvement. If they can improve all the above mentioned, I am pretty sure it can beat all its competitors and emerge as the best.

Oh, before I end this review, take a look at the signboard which I find it rather... special? It is not "No Smoking" or "Cash Term Only" sign...

Read this...

The signboard read, "Kepada sesiapa yang berkenaan, anda dilarang dan tidak dibenarkan sama sekali membuat tawaran kepada pekerja kami." Translation of this means, "To whom it may concern, you are not allowed to make any offer to our workers".

*Faint* Now you know how good are their workers? ;)

For your information: The prices range from RM3-5. Depends what you want for side dish i.e. rendang, fried chicken, sotong (cuttlefish) and etc.

Fall Into Toilet Bowl?

Ok, ok. I know I haven't been updating lately. I did not neither fall and stuck inside the toilet bowl, nor lost in space. I just don't know what to blog about. Life has been aimless for me after I've finished with my uni life. Yes, I know I should look for a job now but... hmm... I just don't know how to tell you all. It'll take quite some time to explain which I have chosen not to.

While I was trying to "escape" from this complicated world, I browsed through some of the cd-s which I've burnt ages ago. Never did I realise that photos I took in secondary school are still there. I thought I have lost them when my computer crashed that time. Although there are only couples of photos, it's enough to bring me a smile. :)

During "Majlis Anugerah Cemerlang 2002".

Majlis Anugerah Cemerlang is a cry and bid goodbye prize and award giving ceremony.

The school's gangster head prefects.

Those four were the school prefects' boss. Ask them whether I had been a good prefect. Haha!

Couple of the year 2002.

Sometimes you think we prefects are all very "guai" (obedient). All bluff only lah! :P

Looks so "cool" with blazer and tie on?

Sometimes I wonder why our school prefects have to put on blazers and ties. You might think we look cool but we're actually very HOT!

Who's that girl?

There are not much photos of us (boys) with the girls. Perhaps we were too scary then...

Teachers and their helpers.

Look at the stage and the backdrop. All were decorated by the prefects.

Part of the prefectorial board.

Being a prefect is not easy. I think the prefects are like the unpaid workers for the school. The only benefit is we get to bully the other students. Haha!

The blackboard showing equation to calculate volume of a trapezium.

This photo was taken in our classroom before we attended the Majlis Anugerah Cemerlang.

Senior's Appreciation Day.

On another occasion, we had Senior's Appreciation Day. This day was organised by the junior prefects for the senior prefects in order to appreciate what the seniors had taught them.

Let's dance!

There were all sorts of activities for that night and of course, a dinner as well.

Retiree.

Most, if not all of the senior prefects were glad that they no longer need to work for the school.

What's on his head?

Some of the prefects were still being fooled on that day. Just look at Jing Jet's (photo) head.

So, that's about it. All those photos remind me of how stress-free the life I had 6 years ago. The only thing that I have to keep in mind is to do well in exams. Other than that was play, eat and sleep. How fun!

No matter what, I am keeping my fingers crossed that my new chapter of life would be as fun too. Wish me luck, guys.
