Kedai Makan Rasa Segar

"Ma, let's go to eat Nasi Lemak tomorrow!"

I kept on telling my mama about this for the past few days before both of us decided to go for a nasi lemak's lunch on yesterday afternoon.

Kedai Makan Rasa Segar's nasi lemak special.

Previously, I have tried the nasi lemak from Bakery Cafe and Nagaliar. This time round, I suggested to try the nasi lemak from Kedai Makan Rasa Segar. This stall is situated opposite a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) in the city.

Upon reaching there, a friendly worker quickly showed us an empty table. Normally in Miri, you'll have to find a seat yourself. So, two thumbs up for their customer service.

Nasi Lemak Ayam.

I ordered myself a serve of Nasi Lemak Ayam. It came with a huge piece of fried chicken, few pieces of cucumber, a half hard boiled egg and generous amount of peanuts and sambal.

Being the most important in nasi lemak, the rice was well cooked with a fragrant smell. Texture wise, both my mum and I agreed that it was way better than the rice in Nagaliar.

As for the sambal, although it came in a rather big portion, I would like it to be a bit more spicy. Also, more ikan bilis (anchovies) should be added since the side dish did not include any of it.

Not to forget, the fried chicken was crispy but a tad dry. Maybe it was the breast meat that was given. I should have asked for the drumstick instead.

Nasi Lemak Rendang Daging.

On the other hand, my mama opted for this Nasi Lemak Rendang Daging. The rendang was served in a generous amount. No doubt, it tasted good despite a bit cold.

Overall, I would rate Kedai Makan Rasa Segar's nasi lemak as one of the best nasi lemak in town. Nevertheless, it still has room for improvement. If they can improve all the above mentioned, I am pretty sure it can beat all its competitors and emerge as the best.

Oh, before I end this review, take a look at the signboard which I find it rather... special? It is not "No Smoking" or "Cash Term Only" sign...

Read this...

The signboard read, "Kepada sesiapa yang berkenaan, anda dilarang dan tidak dibenarkan sama sekali membuat tawaran kepada pekerja kami." Translation of this means, "To whom it may concern, you are not allowed to make any offer to our workers".

*Faint* Now you know how good are their workers? ;)

For your information: The prices range from RM3-5. Depends what you want for side dish i.e. rendang, fried chicken, sotong (cuttlefish) and etc.

Didn't I tell you this place has good nasi lemak? Nagaliar ah - Lousy!

Wah, the sambal so spicy still not spicy enough for you! I take quite spicy food ok, but maybe it was that particular day, but the sambal really blew me away!

Now you make me hungry! :(

Hey I just had nasi lemak too, but on Friday. I had mine at Naga Liar coz the one u are talking about now has parking problems. Agree with you the rice at Naga Liar is not good - poor quality rice maybe..

I have not tried this shop tho!

lee: I did eat few times. Just you never got the chance. haha!

dancingqueen: Yea, you did tell me that. That's why I end up there. haha! Nagaliar, standard dropping...

The sambal not really spicy for me leh. Looks like I can take more spicy food than you. :P

Go ta pao!

Aunty Judy: Looks like you have to postpone your nasi lemak. :P

No leh, I can't write well for food actually. hehe.

eastcoastlife: Doesn't look appetising? Probably I was using my handphone to take those photos. hehe.

No wor, not handsome and not pretty! haha! Maybe they are diligent and friendly? I'm not sure oh...

Aunty Alice: Thanks! But I'm actually not good with food review. hehe. I also thought they mean tips but looking at the signboard, it means, "offer" wor.

teckiee: Confirm segar! haha!

mim: Wah, you also nasi lemak fans? haha! Yea, I have to agree it's a bit tough to get a parking spot there. Unless you go round and round looking for one.

Try this stall and tell me what you think. :)

chev: We here, you can seldom find any nasi lemak in banana leave leh. I wouldn't mind if there's any place sell these cause the aroma would be real nice.

wmw: My favourite too!:)

Now taking chinese traditional medicine lagi cannot eat anything spicy! *slapping forehead*! So sad isn't it. Live in Malaysia some more have to control from eating nasi lemak, roti canai, chendol, beef rendang etc....! adoi! adoi! sob! sob!

Oh Gosh...a dish to die for Kok....now I must indulge in a plate of shiok shiok nasi lemak soon :D

The rendang version definitely looks good. Whereabout is this in Miri?

Maybe the notis tawaran meant no bargaining on the prices? First time I hear of such notice. LOL!

Kok said...

lynnwei: Thanks! Visit that stall when you're back!:)

ilene: It's always good to take care of your health. Unlike us, whack everything we can, haha! I think you still can eat eh? Just once in a while, right?

shionge: haha! Go go go! Nasi lemak!:P

jewelle: It's somewhere around Sin Liang Supermarket. Do you know the KFC in Miri Town? It's just opposite that KFC. If you still can't figure it out, let me know and I'll email you Kok's version of map to you. hehe.

Haha! Funny, I still couldn't figure out what's that mean. :P

kok thx for the prices - it's such a steal to eat back in Msia isn't it? After we've been "soaked in overseas salt water" for quite some time, we really appreciate the good stuff and good value back home :)

tummythoz: I'll try to ask the staff when I visited this stall next time round. I'm also quite curious about the story behind that sign.

sue: Ask Aunty Judy to teach you cook nasi lemak! :)

Ahh, I'll try to ask the next time I visit that stall. haha!

sweet jasmine: Hi Sweet Jasmine, thanks a lot for stepping your feet into this blog. Hope you enjoy your stay over. :)

Oh, you cooked nasi lemak? Don't forget to post up your recipe ya!:)

Wah, you really want me to drool over your nasi lemak? I'll get myself nasi lemak everyday if you drooled me over. And I'll grow sideways after that. haha!

mommibee: Not a problem. :) So much cheaper as compared to those not-so-yummy-nasi-lemak in Australia, right?

True true. After we've been overseas for quite some time, we treasure what we have back home. hehe.

joe: I never thought of that! Should have done so lah! haha! If I remember correctly, you can opted not to have the rendang or the fried chicken. Just plain nasi lemak with peanuts, sambal, anchovies and cucumber.
