Aiyo! I don't know whether they're hardworking or they're stupid or...

Everytime when I was walking around the supermarkets here in Miri, I'm sure there's someone mopping the floor. Yes, mopping the floor when people are shopping! 

I'm sure everyone knows that we should mop the floor when people are not walking around, wait for the floor to dry before people can step on the floor again. If not, the floor would get dirty again no matter how many times you mop. 

However, these cleaners in the supermarket don't seem to understand or they just act don't know. They mop the floor when people is walking. Definitely, the people would step on the cleaned floor and hence, dirty the floor again. What's the point of mopping the floor if that's the case? I seriously have no idea...

They should sweep and mop the floor before the supermarket opens or closes. Either it's early in the morning or late at night when there're no people in the supermarket. I remember last time in uni, the cleaners clean the library, computer lab, lecture hall and etc. at about 5a.m.. They clean the whole place when there is no people around (except some crazy students who stay up till the next morning. That includes me. ;)) That's the right way to work! 

I think the cleaners in Miri just don't like to work early in the morning or late at night. Or, they really like to mop the floor again and again and again? Or... they don't even know wet floor gets dirty when someone steps on it? Hmm...

Book Cover Design Contest!

"Don't judge a book by its cover".

I'm sure this idiom sounds familiar to you. However, I'm not going to elaborate more on the definition of this idiom. Rather, I would like to emphasize more on this two words, book and cover.

Ok, ok. Actually, Lydia Teh is organising a book cover design contest for her newest book, Do You Wear Suspenders? - The Wordy Tales of Eh Poh Nim. If you don't know who's Lydia, she's a famous Malaysian writer who has already came out with three books: 

1. Congratulations! You Have Won
   
2. Life’s Like That - Scenes from Malaysian Life
   
3. Honk If You’re Malaysian

Anyway, here is the challenge:

Please suggest the concept for a cover design based on the title. If you're not familiar with Eh Poh Nim, you can read some of the wordy tales at The Star's archieves. You don't have to draw the cover, a description in the comment box at this post (Contest: Do You Wear Suspenders) would sufficed. But if you are the artistic type and would like to express your idea in drawing, you can email it to Lydia.

Loud Music = Attraction?

Just now, when I was walking into a well known shopping centre in Miri, I was welcomed with a very loud music. I guess it could be heard few streets away.

As I walked nearer to the entrance, I saw Digi (a mobile phone operator) was trying to promote their products. I was thinking, how to do sales in this kind of environment. It was so noisy! I mean, it's ok lah if you turn on some light music so that it won't be that quiet. However, the music was so loud that I'm pretty sure the customers could hardly hear anything from the promoter.

Please loh! This is not the right way to attract customers. In fact, with this loud music, you can drive your customers away. The most important in sales is being able to close a deal. You might attract some customers to you. However, when the customers couldn't even hear what you are explaining, do you expect them to buy anything from you?

So, maybe they have to come out with better ideas to attract more customers. Remember, closing a deal is more important rather than just attracting customers.

Where Are You All?

While I am trying to update this blog more often, I've noticed that less people seems to frequent this little space of mine.

I mean, where are you all? Can you all fill up this "once-very-noisy-blog" again? I don't want to squat in a corner of a small, empty room, looking at the walls and ceiling. I need someone to tap on my shoulder and say, "Hey, let's have fun!"

This space of mine is going to look dead without you all... :(

One Missed Call

I was so tired this afternoon that I fell asleep. Without realising, a friend of mine texted me twice. Suddenly, a ring on my phone woke me up. I was a little bit too late to answer the call, hence a missed call.

So, I saw there were two texts apart from a miss call. All from the very same friend. The first text was telling me how sick is she, how she's dying then and how she's going to handle all the work. The second text was just a random one. 

I replied both the text and was waiting for her reply since I had a question for her in my text. Waiting and waiting... still, there's no reply. Therefore I sent her another text which ends like this "... don't tell me you miss call-ed me to let me know you're dying!"

Instantly, I got a phone call from her. She was laughing and at the same time telling me, "Hey! If I was dying hor, what can you do now?!?!"

Yea hor! What can I do? I couldn't help but to laugh with her. Haha! 

If someone was dying and sent you such text, what would you do? I just want to know out of curiousity. :P

When there's sunshine, it doesn't mean the day is going to be fine...

When he's smiling, it doesn't mean he's happy...

Caring Or Annoying?

Sometimes, when I'm trying to care for a person, I don't know what will the person think. Am I caring or annoying?

Take for example, when I know that person is feeling down, I take my initiative to send a text to him/her to ask whether he/she is alright or not. However, he/she didn't reply.

or

When I haven't contacted a person for a long time, I send him/her a message in MSN. First time, he/she doesn't reply me. The second time, the third time, (after couple of days) he/she still doesn't reply me.

Do you think I am caring or annoying?

Mentally Exhausted...

I am mentally exhausted now. I seriously need a good sleep but when will I be able to do so? :(

P/s: Good sleep means sleep without your mind working and then wake up without feeling tired.
